Tips for Summer Work Outs
Although summer is slowly coming to an end, you still have a few weeks to get up and enjoy the nice weather! What's better than getting a nice workout while enjoying the sunshine? ;)
- Take the time to go on a run/walk. I live in a nice neighborhood with a GORGEOUS view. I take my dog for a walk around the block around sunset and the view is my motivation! I walk down to the park about five minutes away to watch the sunset, then run up the huge hill back to my house.
- Try to incorporate more outdoor workouts. Biking, hiking, swimming! It won't even feel like you're working out.
- Summer sports practice! If you participate in a fall sport, you feel me. I have cheer practice every day for two hours and it definitely helps me gain motivation to work out. It's easier to hit the gym when you're already up and out of the house.
- Don't work out in the heat of the day. Trust me, don't do it. Try to plan your work outs in the evenings or mornings when it's cooler. If you are the kind of person who makes plans at night, get up early and hit the gym in the morning. Then, you'll have the rest of the day to have fun and you won't feel guilty for not working out.
- Try yoga! Yoga on the beach isn't just for celebrities. Take a mat down on the beach, water, or even in your backyard! Not only is it a great way to get your day started and relax, but you get a nice work out. It isn't high cardio and is something you can do in warm weather.
- Partner up! I hate working out with someone, I really do. But there is no better motivation to work hard and get out of bed than to plan your work outs with a friend.
- Don't go full force at once. Start out easy! You have to learn how to walk before you run. You'll reach your goal eventually, but take it slow.
5 Tips on how to drink more Water

Water is ESSENTIAL to your body, especially in this warm weather. It is very important to stay hydrated.
1. Try putting fruit in your water. A lot of people don't like the taste of water or think it's too plain, but by adding fruit (cucumbers, strawberries, lemon, pineapple) to it, it creates a totally different taste. 2. Start carrying a water bottle with you everywhere you go. This sounds like a simple one, but there's so much temptation to stop by a fast food place and get a soda when you don't have anything with you to drink. 3. Drink a glass of water before you have any other beverage. This was a tip I picked up at camp. At every meal, we'd have to have a glass of water before we could indulge in anything else. It definitely helped me drink more water! 4. Eat spicy snacks. Nothing makes me want something to drink more than eating something spicy! If water is the only option, you will definitely drink it down. 5. Reward yourself. Make a goal with how much water you want to drink in a day/week. Select a prize (mani/pedi, cheat day, etc.) that you can splurge on when you reach your goal. Benefits of Drinking Water:

Fitness motivation
Nothing gets me more motivated to work out than seeing pictures of fit people. Who doesn't want to have abs of steel and look good?! To give me motivation to hit the gym more, I make the pictures below my phone screens. I choose reasonable pictures as my screens so it can be an achievable goal. Green Smoothie
I recently posted a picture on Twitter of my green smoothie and I've gotten a few questions as to how to make it and what it tastes like. After a workout, nothing is better than a green smoothie! Although it looks strange with it's color, it tastes mainly of mango. The recipe is written below.
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
- 1 banana
- One large handful of greens (baby kale, spinach, and chard. This can be found at Costco!)
- About a cup of frozen mango chunks (also can be found at Costco)
- Tablespoon of ground flaxseed (can be found at any grocery store)
- Half a scoop of Perfect Food RAW Organic Green Super Food Powder (see below!)
To the right (don't mind Harlow!) is the Perfect Food RAW Organic Green Super Food is a powder that I found out about from Kristin Cavallari. She has an app in the app store if you'd like to check it out. She's a health fanatic and her body definitely shows it! You can buy this at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or New Seasons Market.
